Who you are
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience and at least 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on distributed systems. Your expertise includes 3 years of experience coding in C++, and you possess excellent coding skills in Java and TypeScript, particularly in Angular. You are familiar with managing production systems and have a solid understanding of web applications and front-end development.
You may hold a Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field, which enhances your ability to contribute to complex projects. Your experience in power modeling and data center operations will be a significant asset in this role. You are a problem solver who thrives in collaborative environments and can communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Power Modeling team, you will be responsible for building tools and services that gather and serve accurate power data for Google's data centers. This involves creating highly reliable services and software tools to model power topologies from the power grid to in-rack devices. You will compute and serve failure domain data to avoid correlated failures in job scheduling and data placement, which is critical for maintaining Google's reliability standards.
You will analyze power utilization of production and machine learning machines to verify and enhance the accuracy of power models. Your role will also include maintaining applications used by technicians to record power connections and ensuring high availability for critical services like Colossus and Borg. You will collaborate closely with other engineers to ensure optimal infrastructure utilization and contribute to the planning and design of data center operations.
What we offer
Google offers a competitive salary range for this full-time position, with a base salary between $166,000 and $244,000. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values innovation and collaboration.
