Hubstaff is hiring a Senior Rails Back-End Developer to architect and optimize back-end systems for their SaaS platform. You'll work with Ruby on Rails to design high-volume APIs and ensure system reliability. This position requires significant experience in backend development.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly with Ruby on Rails, and have a strong understanding of building scalable systems that can handle millions of records. You are adept at identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, ensuring that the systems you develop are both efficient and reliable. Your experience includes designing high-volume APIs and optimizing database performance, which are critical to the success of a SaaS platform like Hubstaff's.
You thrive in a fully remote environment and are excited about the opportunity to work with a product-led company that values long-term growth and stability. You see yourself as part of a team that is committed to building something impactful over time, rather than just completing short-term contracts. Your collaborative spirit and strong communication skills enable you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and frontend developers.
Desirable
Experience with cloud platforms and familiarity with DevOps practices would be a plus, as would any exposure to performance monitoring tools. You are always eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, which helps you stay at the forefront of backend development trends.
What you'll do
As a Senior Rails Back-End Developer at Hubstaff, you will design, build, and maintain services and features that are foundational to our platform. Your primary focus will be on architecting scalable systems that can handle high concurrency and large volumes of data. You will work closely with other engineers to ensure that the back-end systems are optimized for performance and reliability.
You will be responsible for identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, which is crucial for maintaining the efficiency of our services. Your role will also involve collaborating with product teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications that guide development.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their careers. You will participate in code reviews, ensuring that the codebase remains clean and maintainable while adhering to best practices.
What we offer
At Hubstaff, we offer competitive pay for top talent and a fully remote work environment that has been in place for over a decade. You will have the opportunity to work on technically challenging problems at scale, contributing to a product that empowers businesses worldwide. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members, regardless of background or identity. Join us in building a platform that is essential for remote teams and enjoy the flexibility and support that comes with being part of our team.
