You have a strong background in design research, with experience leading research initiatives that shape innovative strategies in the media and technology sectors. Your ability to engage with clients and understand their needs allows you to craft research activities that drive impactful design outcomes. Your collaborative spirit enables you to work effectively across teams and time zones, particularly with clients in Pacific and Japan time zones.
You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to articulate research findings and insights in a way that inspires and informs design teams. You are comfortable navigating complex client relationships and are dedicated to fostering long-term partnerships that drive growth and innovation. Your experience in interdisciplinary collaboration equips you to work seamlessly with diverse teams, ensuring that research informs all phases of the design process.
What you'll do
As the Design Research Lead, you will guide teams and clients through the development of insights that fuel great design work. You will be responsible for shaping research activities across multiple programs, ensuring that they align with client goals and the strategic vision of IDEO. Your role will involve conducting qualitative and quantitative research, synthesizing findings, and presenting insights to stakeholders in a compelling manner. You will collaborate closely with design teams to ensure that research informs design decisions and contributes to the overall success of projects.
You will also play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with clients, acting as a strategic partner in their growth journey. Your ability to understand client needs and translate them into actionable research strategies will be crucial in driving successful outcomes. You will mentor and support junior researchers, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration within the team. Periodic travel to IDEO studios for in-person collaboration will be expected, enhancing team dynamics and project execution.
