Who you are

You are an experienced PL/SQL Developer with a strong background in database migration and refactoring. You have in-depth knowledge of Oracle databases and are well-versed in PostgreSQL, having worked on projects that involve transitioning from Oracle to PostgreSQL and SQL Server to PostgreSQL. Your experience includes using cloud-based database services such as Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Azure database for PostgreSQL, which allows you to effectively manage and optimize database performance in cloud environments.

You possess a solid understanding of migrating tools like ora2pg, SCT, and DMS, which you have utilized to streamline migration processes. Your ability to resolve complex refactoring challenges due to advanced Oracle techniques and packages sets you apart. You are also capable of automating straightforward refactoring activities, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in your work.

Your experience with agile development methodologies enables you to thrive in collaborative environments, where you can contribute to team success while continuously improving your skills. Knowledge of other databases like Microsoft SQL and MySQL is a plus, as it broadens your perspective on database management and optimization.

You are familiar with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes, which enhances your ability to design and implement effective data solutions. Your expertise in database design, data modeling, and schema normalization ensures that you can create robust and scalable database architectures. Additionally, you have experience with database administration tasks such as backup and recovery, replication, and high availability configurations, making you a well-rounded candidate for this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead critical projects involving the migration and refactoring of database systems from Oracle to PostgreSQL and from SQL Server to PostgreSQL. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution, leveraging your expertise in PL/SQL and PostgreSQL to address complex challenges. Your responsibilities will include designing migration strategies, implementing refactoring solutions, and optimizing database performance in cloud environments.

You will collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver high-quality solutions that meet business needs. Your role will also involve mentoring junior team members, sharing your knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.

As part of your daily activities, you will engage in database design and modeling, ensuring that the systems you develop are efficient and scalable. You will also be responsible for conducting performance tuning and optimization of existing databases, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing necessary changes.

Your familiarity with agile methodologies will allow you to adapt to changing project requirements and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives. You will play a key role in ensuring that the team meets its goals and delivers value to the organization.
