Job Description
Who you are
You have 6–10+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly with real-time audio/video or telephony systems — you've built and maintained scalable infrastructure that supports high-volume calls and ensures quality of service. Your hands-on experience with technologies like WebRTC, SIP, and Twilio means you understand the nuances of real-time communication and can troubleshoot issues effectively.
You possess a strong foundation in distributed systems and low-latency infrastructure — you've optimized systems for performance and reliability, ensuring that users experience minimal latency and high-quality audio/video. Your debugging skills are top-notch, allowing you to identify and resolve issues related to quality of service, such as jitter and packet loss.
What you'll do
In this role, you will architect and improve the real-time voice infrastructure at Nooks — your work will directly impact the reliability and scalability of our audio/video calling features. You will ensure that call quality and latency meet SLA targets globally, which is critical for our users who rely on seamless communication.
You will build services for advanced features such as call transfers, monitoring, and recordings — your contributions will enhance the overall user experience and provide valuable tools for sales teams. Additionally, you will develop observability and debugging tools for call flows, enabling faster issue resolution and better performance tracking.
Collaboration is key in this role; you will partner with Product and Support teams to enable new audio/video features and ensure that any issues are resolved quickly — your ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders will be essential.
