You are a hands-on engineer who enjoys building resilient data infrastructure rather than just administering it — your background includes designing highly available PostgreSQL clusters with physical and logical replication, sharding, and failover automation. You understand the importance of optimizing query performance, indexing strategies, and schema design to enhance system efficiency.

You thrive in collaborative environments and work closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform, and Engineering teams — your strong communication skills enable you to articulate technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders. What you'll do

In this role, you will design, implement, and operate highly available PostgreSQL clusters — your responsibilities will include ensuring the reliability and performance of the database environment that powers Okta's large-scale systems. You will optimize query performance and develop indexing strategies that enhance data retrieval efficiency.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to operationalize and automate database processes — your work will involve implementing failover automation and monitoring systems to ensure high availability. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
