Who you are
You are a Ph.D. candidate in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science, or another quantitative discipline. You possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a detail-oriented mindset that allows you to learn and apply new methodologies to real-life problems. Your programming skills in R, Python, or C++ are complemented by your experience with SQL, making you well-equipped to handle data collection and preliminary analysis. You have a strong desire to deliver high-quality results in a timely fashion and can work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Desirable
While prior experience in the financial services industry is not required, candidates with solid research experience in their field of specialty will stand out. You have a good intuition for original research ideas and a passion for analyzing market anomalies. Your ability to digest and improve upon the latest academic research will be crucial in this role.
What you'll do
As a Quantitative Researcher Intern at Cubist, you will provide research assistance to full-time researchers, contributing to the development of systematic trading strategies. Your responsibilities will include assisting with data collection and preliminary analysis, as well as following and analyzing the latest academic research to enhance existing methodologies.
