Job Description

Who you are

You have at least 3 years of experience in CNC machining, demonstrating your ability to operate, set up, and program CNC machines effectively. Your background includes working with various CNC machines, preferably Okuma mill-turn, and you understand the importance of precision in producing both flight and non-flight hardware. You are detail-oriented and capable of managing cutting tools to ensure optimal machine performance. Your experience includes performing preventative maintenance on CNC machines, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the production process. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are flexible in supporting your teammates to meet production goals. You are proactive in introducing fresh ideas in machining, fixturing, and tooling approaches to enhance efficiency.

Desirable

You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate, and while 3+ years of experience is required, 5+ years is preferred. Your ability to program CNC machinery is a significant asset, and you are comfortable with the technical aspects of the role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will operate and program CNC machines to produce components for SpaceX's Starship program. You will prioritize daily work to meet customer deadlines while ensuring the highest quality of parts. Your responsibilities will include performing precision setups on state-of-the-art CNC machines and managing cutting tools to maintain optimal performance. You will also be responsible for on-machine deburring of hardware to ensure consistent quality with minimal human intervention. Regular preventative maintenance of CNC machines will be part of your routine, ensuring that all equipment is in top condition. You will maintain the shop's cleanliness and organization, including chip bins and oils, while adhering to 5S principles. You will document work instructions and test plans to track necessary data throughout each process, contributing to continuous improvement in machining practices.
