SpaceX is hiring a Senior CNC Machinist to operate CNC machines and produce flight hardware for the Starship program. This role requires 8+ years of experience in CNC machining and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge aerospace technology.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 8+ years of experience in CNC machining, demonstrating a strong ability to operate and manage CNC machines effectively. Your background includes performing precision set-ups and ensuring high machine uptime, which is critical in a fast-paced environment like SpaceX. You are skilled in managing cutting tools and performing preventative maintenance on CNC machines, ensuring that all equipment is ready for production. Your attention to detail ensures that hardware meets strict print requirements, contributing to the overall success of the Starship program.
You thrive in a collaborative environment, supporting your teammates and contributing to the overall efficiency of the shop. You understand the importance of maintaining a clean and organized workspace, adhering to 5S principles to promote safety and productivity. Your flexibility allows you to adapt to changing priorities and support various projects as needed, showcasing your commitment to the team's success.
Desirable
While not required, additional experience in aerospace manufacturing or advanced CNC technologies would be beneficial. Familiarity with laser part marking and general part finishing requirements can enhance your contributions to the team.
What you'll do
In this role, you will operate CNC machines to produce flight hardware essential for achieving program-level production rate goals. You will prioritize daily work to ensure high machine uptime and manage cutting tools effectively, ensuring that machines are equipped with the necessary tools for upcoming programs. Your responsibilities will include deburring hardware and operating clean line equipment, contributing to the overall quality of the products delivered to downstream customers.
You will perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines weekly and monthly, ensuring that all equipment operates at peak performance. Additionally, you will maintain the shop's cleanliness, managing chip bins, oils, greases, and general upkeep activities. Completing work instructions and test plans will be part of your routine, documenting necessary data throughout each process to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
