SpaceX is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to provide technical EHS support for launch vehicle manufacturing teams. You'll play a crucial role in ensuring safe work conditions and compliance with health standards. A background in EHS practices is essential for this position.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a Bachelorβs degree or a high school diploma with 4+ years of experience in environmental health and safety. Your background includes implementing and overseeing safety protocols in industrial settings, demonstrating a strong understanding of EHS regulations and practices. You are detail-oriented and possess excellent analytical skills, allowing you to conduct thorough assessments of workplace safety and health risks. Your experience includes emergency response planning and executing industrial hygiene studies to ensure compliance with health thresholds. You are familiar with calibrating and servicing EHS instrumentation, and you have a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety deficiencies. You understand the importance of creating effective lockout/tagout procedures and are skilled in designing high-resolution EHS signage to promote safety awareness.
Desirable
Experience with safety inspections and risk mitigation strategies is a plus. Familiarity with consensus agency standards such as NIOSH and ANSI will enhance your ability to qualify PPE requirements through in-depth hazard analysis. You are committed to maintaining safety equipment and ensuring that supplies are readily available for all employees.
What you'll do
In this role, you will actively participate in emergency response planning, ensuring that all safety protocols are in place for potential incidents. You will execute industrial hygiene studies to analyze manufacturing byproducts, comparing them against established human health thresholds. Your responsibilities will include calibrating and servicing a variety of EHS instrumentation, as well as performing safety inspections to identify and address any deficiencies that could pose risks to employees. You will conduct functional testing of machine guarding devices across various applications, ensuring that all safety measures are effective and compliant with regulations. Additionally, you will create and implement lockout/tagout procedures for complex work cells and industrial machinery, contributing to a safer work environment. Your role will also involve designing and deploying high-resolution EHS signage throughout SpaceX locations to enhance safety awareness among employees. You will qualify PPE requirements through comprehensive hazard analysis and review of consensus agency standards, ensuring that all safety equipment meets necessary guidelines. Monitoring safety equipment strongholds will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that supplies are always available and accessible to employees.
