The Exploration Company is hiring a CAD/CAM Programmer / Machinist to take ownership of machining flow for space-grade components. You'll work with CNC programming and high-precision parts in Bordeaux, France.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in CNC machining and programming, ideally with an engineering degree or extensive hands-on experience. You are technically mature and capable of taking full ownership of the machining flow for space-grade components, ensuring high precision and quality in your work.
Your expertise includes programming complex components using HyperMill for 5-axis milling and CNC turning. You are familiar with the setup, tuning, and continuous improvement of machining processes, and you have experience working with multi-brand CNC equipment.
You are detail-oriented and capable of validating parts to ensure they meet strict tolerances and surface finish requirements. Your experience includes manufacturing critical components such as gas and propellant valves, precision assemblies, and Inconel structures.
You are proactive in analyzing and improving toolpaths to reduce cycle times and stabilize machining quality. You also understand the importance of first-level maintenance to keep machines functioning optimally.
Fluency in English is essential, as you will be working in an international environment. You are a team player who enjoys interfacing with design teams to optimize machining strategies and contribute to future investments in machining equipment and tooling.
Desirable
Experience with advanced machining technologies and a passion for the space sector would be a plus. Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and a drive for innovation in machining processes will set you apart.
What you'll do
In this role, you will define and optimize machining strategies, including sequencing, tooling, and fixtures. You will program complex components in HyperMill, ensuring that all parts are validated on multi-brand CNC equipment.
You will be responsible for manufacturing high-precision parts, including valve bodies and post-processed metal 3D-printed components. Your role will involve realizing first-level maintenance to keep the machines in good working order and analyzing toolpaths to enhance efficiency.
You will collaborate closely with design teams to ensure that the machining processes align with the overall project goals. Your contributions will directly impact the quality and performance of the space-grade components being developed.
