The Exploration Company is hiring an Avionics System Engineer specializing in Electrical Power Systems to define and design the architecture for their modular space vehicle, Nyx. You'll work with solar arrays, batteries, and power distribution units in Munich.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in electrical engineering, particularly in avionics systems, with experience in defining and designing electrical power systems for complex projects. Your expertise includes sizing and specifying solar arrays, batteries, and power conditioning units, ensuring optimal power generation and distribution strategies across various mission phases. You are familiar with ECSS/NASA standards and have conducted reliability and redundancy analyses to ensure system integrity.

You possess a keen ability to evaluate and select flight-qualified components, including solar cells and power conversion elements, and you have experience in producing detailed technical specifications. Your analytical skills enable you to conduct thorough simulations and analyses to support design decisions, ensuring that all components meet rigorous performance standards.

What you'll do

In this role, you will define the Electrical Power System architecture in coordination with system engineering and mission requirements. You will be responsible for sizing and specifying solar arrays, batteries, and power conditioning/distribution units, ensuring that the power generation and distribution strategies are optimal for all mission phases. You will also evaluate and select flight-qualified components, supporting the design of power conditioning and distribution units.

You will conduct worst-case, reliability, and redundancy analyses in accordance with ECSS/NASA standards, ensuring that the systems you design are robust and reliable. Additionally, you will define and execute verification and validation plans for the Electrical Power System, supporting integration with other spacecraft subsystems and participating in environmental testing.

Your role will involve interfacing with suppliers for both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components and in-house designed power system components. You will support project development logic, planning, risk assessment, and technical reviews, contributing to the overall success of the Nyx project.

What we offer

The Exploration Company offers a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in the aerospace sector, contributing to the development of a modular and reusable space vehicle.
