Overview

The Exploration Company is seeking a Lead Avionics, GNC & FSW Engineer to lead the design, development, and testing of avionics and flight software for lunar lander projects. You'll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in Munich, focusing on innovative space vehicle technology.

Who you are

You are an experienced engineer with a strong background in avionics, guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), and flight software development. With a proven track record of leading engineering teams, you excel in defining requirements and architecture for complex systems. Your expertise in simulation and modeling allows you to verify performance, safety, and reliability, ensuring that designs meet stringent requirements. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to translate system-level requirements into detailed specifications. Your leadership skills enable you to build and guide multi-disciplinary teams through the full development lifecycle, fostering an atmosphere of innovation and excellence.

Desirable

Experience in the aerospace industry or with space vehicles is a plus. Familiarity with hardware development and supplier management will enhance your ability to oversee the development and testing of engineering models and flight models. A passion for space exploration and a commitment to advancing technology in this field will set you apart.

What you'll do

As the Lead Avionics, GNC & FSW Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of avionics systems for our lunar lander projects. You will define requirements and architecture, ensuring that all systems are optimized for performance and reliability. Your role will involve using simulation tools to verify designs and oversee the development of breadboards and engineering models. You will manage supplier selection and hardware development oversight, ensuring timely delivery of equipment. Collaborating closely with the Chief Engineer and other engineering disciplines, you will ensure that the system design meets all requirements and is ready for rigorous testing.

You will also play a key role in mentoring and developing your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Your leadership will guide the team through challenges, ensuring that all project milestones are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our space vehicle technology, contributing to missions that push the boundaries of exploration.
