Overview
Toptal is seeking a Materials Science Engineer to lead research and integration of advanced materials for innovative consumer hardware. This role requires expertise in materials science and collaboration with global OEMs.
Job Description
Who you are
You are a Materials Science Engineer with a strong background in research and development of advanced materials. You have experience working with smart-material systems and are skilled in evaluating material properties and performance. Your ability to collaborate with global OEMs and build test rigs will be crucial in this role. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to contribute to groundbreaking technology that will change how people interact with their living spaces.
Desirable
Experience in consumer hardware development is a plus, as is familiarity with advanced films and smart materials. You are proactive in your approach and have a passion for innovation and technology. You thrive in a remote work environment and are ready to take on the challenges of building foundational technology for a new product.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the research, testing, and integration of advanced films and smart-material systems for Toptal's first-generation consumer hardware product. You will work closely with global OEMs to evaluate film properties and architect the substrate and material stack that powers the core experience of the product. Your responsibilities will include building test rigs and conducting experiments to ensure the materials meet the required specifications and performance standards. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the development process and contribute to the overall vision of the product.
