Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in machine learning and experience working with large datasets — you've developed models that learn from complex real-world data and understand the intricacies of optimizing these models for performance. Your proficiency in Python is complemented by your familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and Keras, allowing you to implement cutting-edge algorithms effectively. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including researchers and engineers, to integrate machine learning solutions into existing systems. Your analytical mindset enables you to dissect problems and propose innovative solutions that enhance the capabilities of autonomous driving technology.

Desirable

Experience with perception systems or autonomous vehicles is a plus, as is familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques. You are eager to stay updated with the latest advancements in machine learning and apply them to real-world challenges. A collaborative spirit and a passion for improving mobility through technology drive your work.

What you'll do

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Waymo, you will be at the forefront of developing the Waymo Driver, the world's most experienced autonomous driver. You will work on the Perception team, focusing on building systems that learn spatial-temporal representations of the environment around the vehicle. Your role will involve developing methods for efficiently learning from large-scale real-world data, ensuring that the models you create can handle the complexities of real-world interactions. You will analyze real-world behavior and optimize models for both onboard and offboard hardware, contributing to the overall performance and safety of the autonomous driving system.

You will collaborate closely with downstream teams to integrate your models into the Waymo Driver, ensuring seamless functionality and performance. Your work will directly impact the safety and efficiency of autonomous ride-hail services, as you help to refine the technology that powers millions of rider-only trips. You will also have the opportunity to conduct research that addresses real-world problems, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.

What we offer

Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $170,000 to $216,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan. You will be part of a mission-driven company that is dedicated to improving access to mobility and saving lives through technology. Our benefits program is generous, supporting your health and well-being as you contribute to groundbreaking advancements in autonomous driving. Join us in our mission to be the world's most trusted driver and make a meaningful impact in the field of transportation.
