Who you are
You have a strong background in machine learning and computer vision, with at least 5 years of experience designing and implementing models for complex systems. Your expertise in Python and frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch allows you to develop cutting-edge solutions that push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology. You are familiar with large language models (LLM) and visual language models (VLM), and you understand how to leverage these technologies for spatial-temporal reasoning tasks.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams, including researchers and engineers, to tackle challenging problems in autonomous driving. Your strong analytical skills enable you to evaluate model performance and iterate on designs effectively. You are passionate about advancing the field of AI and are eager to contribute to innovative projects that have a real-world impact.
What you'll do
In this role, you will design and implement advanced machine learning models for visual reasoning in autonomous driving scenarios. You will develop robust training and evaluation pipelines for VLM, ensuring that the models perform optimally under various conditions. Collaborating closely with the AI Foundations team, you will contribute to research initiatives that address open problems in the field, such as reinforcement learning and generative modeling.
You will also be responsible for maintaining and improving existing models, conducting experiments to validate new approaches, and sharing your findings with the broader team. Your work will directly influence the development of the Waymo Driver, enhancing its capabilities and safety in real-world applications. You will report to a Staff Research Scientist and participate in hybrid work arrangements, balancing in-office collaboration with remote work.
What we offer
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
