You are an experienced technical leader with over 7 years of total experience in software engineering, particularly in the field of data and evaluation. Your background includes a strong focus on statistical analysis, which allows you to validate large-scale changes effectively. You have a proven track record of working with large-scale data processing frameworks such as Google Data Flow or Apache Beam, showcasing your ability to handle complex data challenges.
You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to evolve mapping formats and improve automation. Your experience in building backend infrastructure for storing and processing various forms of map data is a testament to your technical expertise. You are passionate about leveraging technology to enhance mobility and safety in autonomous driving.
What you'll do
In this role, you will evaluate and launch machine learning models that automatically generate maps from raw data, contributing to Waymo's mission of creating the world's most trusted driver. You will collaborate with onboard teams to evolve Waymo's mapping format, ensuring it is more automation-friendly. Your responsibilities will include applying statistical analysis to validate large-scale changes, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the data.
You will build and maintain backend infrastructure that supports the storage and processing of diverse map data, working closely with other teams that consume this data. Your role will involve leading technical discussions and guiding the team in best practices for data processing and evaluation. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster their growth.
