Who you are
You have a B.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With over 3 years of industry experience, you have a strong foundation in software engineering principles and practices. You are proficient in Python and have experience with machine learning models, particularly in evaluating and launching them for real-world applications. Your analytical skills are top-notch, allowing you to apply statistical analysis effectively to validate large-scale changes in data. You are comfortable working with backend infrastructure and have a keen interest in building systems that support complex data processing tasks. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement.
What you'll do
In this role, you will evaluate and launch machine learning models that automatically generate maps from raw data, contributing to the development of Waymo's autonomous driving technology. You will collaborate with onboard teams to evolve Waymo’s mapping format, ensuring it is more automation-friendly. Your responsibilities will include applying statistical analysis to validate large-scale changes and building backend infrastructure for storing and processing various forms of map data. You will also work on scaling systems to support mapping efforts across the globe, ensuring that the infrastructure can handle the demands of high-resolution mapping. Your contributions will directly impact the safety and efficiency of autonomous driving, making a difference in how mobility is accessed and experienced.

Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $170,000—$216,000 USD, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and an equity incentive plan.
