You have a strong background in software engineering with experience in designing and implementing automated analytic workflows. Your expertise in Python and machine learning allows you to analyze complex data sets effectively. You are familiar with large language models and understand how to leverage them for data categorization and analysis. You possess a solid understanding of data pipelines and have experience building scalable systems that can handle large volumes of data. Your analytical mindset enables you to identify critical issues and develop actionable insights from simulation and real-world data. You are detail-oriented and committed to ensuring high precision and reliability in perception models. You enjoy working in a hybrid role and are comfortable communicating with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, develop, and implement automated evaluation analytic workflows using large language models and other AI techniques. You will build and maintain scalable data pipelines that automatically cluster, summarize, and surface critical issue categories discovered through extensive simulation and real-world data. Your work will directly contribute to the improvement of the Waymo Driver's performance and reliability.

You will collaborate closely with the Discovery Eval team to orchestrate the full lifecycle of discoveries that feed into the machine learning training flywheel. Your insights will play a crucial role in enhancing the Waymo Driver's capabilities and ensuring it operates with the highest standards of safety and efficiency. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to the overall growth of the team.

What we offer

Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $170,000—$216,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan. You will be part of a mission-driven company focused on improving access to mobility and saving lives through autonomous driving technology.
