Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing metrics and models for complex systems. Your background includes working with autonomous systems or similar technologies, and you have a strong understanding of performance evaluation and safety metrics. You are skilled in programming languages such as Java and Python, and you have experience in data analysis and model development. You thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about driving results through teamwork. You can effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that all teams are aligned on project goals. You are proactive in finding innovative solutions to enhance system performance and scalability.

Desirable

Experience with autonomous driving technologies or related fields is a plus. Familiarity with machine learning frameworks and data collection methods will set you apart. You have a keen interest in the latest advancements in autonomous systems and are eager to contribute to a mission-driven company like Waymo.

What you'll do

In this role, you will develop metrics and models to evaluate and enhance the performance, safety, and scalability of Waymo's self-driving system. You will evaluate new models or methods to assess their performance and applicability to real-world problems. Your responsibilities will include finding new ways to gather the required data needed to improve metrics and models, as well as communicating the benefits and limitations of these new models to partner teams. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the systems you develop meet high-performance standards and contribute to the overall mission of improving mobility and safety. You will also participate in testing and validation processes to ensure that the systems operate smoothly and safely.
