Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building scalable systems that leverage machine learning technologies. Your background includes a strong understanding of distributed systems, and you've successfully led projects that involve massive model scaling and AI infrastructure. You are proficient in Python and have experience working with ML accelerators, which will be crucial for this role.
Your expertise extends to developing infrastructure for large-scale simulations, and you are familiar with the challenges of modeling realistic environments. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and improve simulation fidelity. You are passionate about autonomous driving technology and understand the importance of safety and reliability in this field.
Desirable
Experience with multi-billion parameter foundation models is a plus, as is familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools. You have a keen interest in the latest advancements in machine learning and are eager to apply them to real-world applications. What you'll do
In this role, you will lead the development of advanced AI/ML infrastructure that supports the Waymo Driver's simulation capabilities. You will design and implement scalable systems that can handle large datasets and complex simulations, ensuring that the infrastructure is robust and efficient. Your work will directly contribute to the fidelity and steerability of simulations, which are critical for testing and training the Waymo Driver.
You will collaborate with the Simulator team to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements. This involves working on the integration of large foundation models into the simulation environment, optimizing performance, and ensuring that the infrastructure can support the demands of high-fidelity simulations.
You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their roles. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team, as you work together to push the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous driving technology.
What we offer
Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
