Who you are

You have a strong background in Site Reliability Engineering with at least 5 years of experience managing infrastructure and ensuring system reliability. Your expertise in cloud services, particularly AWS, allows you to optimize costs while maintaining high availability. You are well-versed in containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, which you have used to streamline deployment processes and enhance system observability.

You possess excellent leadership skills, having successfully guided teams through complex projects while fostering a collaborative environment. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders ensures that everyone is aligned with the mission of improving patient experiences in healthcare.

You are passionate about solving challenging problems and have a track record of implementing CI/CD pipelines that enhance development workflows. Your analytical mindset helps you identify areas for improvement in system performance and reliability, and you are proactive in addressing potential issues before they impact users.

Desirable

Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus or Grafana is a plus, as is familiarity with infrastructure as code practices. You understand the importance of security in cloud environments and have implemented best practices to safeguard sensitive data.

What you'll do

As the Engineering Manager for the Site Reliability Engineering team, you will lead a mission-critical function that keeps Zocdoc’s infrastructure secure, cost-efficient, observable, and reliable. You will guide a team responsible for OS and container patching, CI/CD infrastructure, cloud cost management, and container image lifecycle management. Your role will involve collaborating closely with development teams to ensure that new features are designed with reliability in mind.

You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the SRE team, prioritizing initiatives that align with Zocdoc’s mission to empower patients. This includes developing and implementing processes that enhance system reliability and performance while reducing operational costs. You will also mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include monitoring system performance, responding to incidents, and conducting post-mortems to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure that infrastructure changes are communicated effectively and that all stakeholders are informed of potential impacts.
