Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in ASIC physical design, demonstrating a strong understanding of hardware design principles and methodologies. Your expertise includes working with RTL and logic designers to drive architectural feasibility studies and explore power-performance-area trade-offs for physical design closure.

You are proficient in physical implementation processes including synthesis, floor planning, bus and pin planning, place and route, and timing closure. Your analytical skills allow you to conduct IR drop analysis and physical verification, ensuring that designs meet stringent quality standards.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to develop and refine physical design methodologies. Your ability to evaluate third-party IP and provide recommendations is a key asset in your role.

What you'll do

As a Senior Physical Design Engineer at Amazon, you will be responsible for the design and optimization of hardware in our data centers, focusing on custom SoCs for machine learning servers. You will drive the physical implementation of IO and core blocks, ensuring that all aspects of the design process are executed with precision and efficiency.

You will collaborate with RTL and logic designers to ensure that architectural feasibility studies are conducted effectively, and you will explore various trade-offs to achieve optimal physical design closure. Your role will involve synthesizing designs, planning bus and pin layouts, and executing place and route strategies.

You will also be tasked with conducting timing closure and IR drop analysis, as well as performing physical verification to ensure compliance with design specifications. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining the high standards of our server infrastructure, which supports AWS's massive scale and rapid integration of emergent technologies.
