Overview
Apple is hiring a Physical Design Engineer to contribute to high-performance PHY designs from RTL to GDSII delivery. You'll work with CAD, timing, and logic design teams to ensure outstanding physical designs. This role requires experience in physical design methodologies and tools.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in physical design engineering, with experience in crafting high-performance PHY designs from RTL to GDSII. Your expertise includes generating block and chip-level static timing constraints, and you are adept at building full chip floor-plans that include pin placements, partitions, and power grids. You understand the intricacies of developing and validating low power clock network guidelines, and you are skilled in performing block-level place and route to meet timing, area, and power constraints.
You are familiar with generating and implementing ECOs to address timing, noise, and EM IR violations, and you have experience running physical design verification flows at both chip and block levels. Your collaborative nature allows you to provide guidelines to other designers for fixing LVS and DRC violations. You are also involved in establishing CAD and physical design methodologies that ensure correct-by-construction designs, and you assist in flow development for chip integration.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be at the center of a PHY design effort, collaborating closely with architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design teams. Your contributions will have a critical impact on delivering outstanding PHY designs that delight millions of Apple customers. You will generate block and chip-level static timing constraints, build full chip floor-plans, and develop high-performance low power clock network guidelines. You will perform block-level place and route, ensuring that designs meet timing, area, and power constraints.
You will also generate and implement ECOs to fix any timing, noise, and EM IR violations that arise during the design process. Running the physical design verification flow at both chip and block levels will be a key responsibility, as will providing guidelines to other designers to address LVS and DRC violations. Your role will involve participating in the establishment of CAD and physical design methodologies, ensuring that designs are correct by construction. Additionally, you will assist in flow development for chip integration, contributing to the overall success of the design team.
What we offer
At Apple, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to crafting products that enrich people's lives. We offer a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged, and you will have the opportunity to work on challenges that have yet to be solved. You will be part of a culture that values diversity and inclusion, and we encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement.
