Overview
Apple is hiring a Physical Design Engineer to contribute to high-performance PHY designs from RTL to GDSII delivery. You'll work with CAD, timing, and logic design teams in Cupertino. This role requires expertise in physical design methodologies.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong background in physical design engineering, with experience in all phases of high-performance PHY design from RTL to GDSII delivery. Your expertise includes generating block and chip-level static timing constraints, and you are adept at building full chip floor-plans that include pin placement, partitions, and power grids. You are skilled in developing and validating high-performance low-power clock network guidelines, ensuring that designs meet timing, area, and power constraints.
You have a proven track record of performing block-level place and route, and you are experienced in generating and implementing ECOs to fix timing, noise, and EM IR violations. Your familiarity with physical design verification flows at both chip and block levels allows you to provide guidelines to fix LVS and DRC violations effectively. You are also involved in establishing CAD and physical design methodologies for correct-by-construction designs, contributing to flow development for chip integration.
What you'll do
As a Physical Design Engineer at Apple, you will play a critical role in the PHY design effort, collaborating closely with architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design teams. Your responsibilities will include generating static timing constraints and building comprehensive chip floor-plans. You will develop guidelines for low-power clock networks and ensure that designs adhere to strict timing, area, and power specifications.
You will be responsible for executing block-level place and route tasks, implementing ECOs to address any design violations, and running physical design verification flows. Your contributions will help shape the methodologies used in physical design, ensuring that all designs are correct by construction. You will also assist in the development of flows for chip integration, making a significant impact on the delivery of outstanding PHY designs that delight millions of Apple customers.
What we offer
Apple offers a dynamic work environment where innovation is at the forefront. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to products that enrich people's lives.
