Who you are
You have a strong background in systems engineering with at least 5 years of experience in automation and operations — you've successfully led projects that required high availability and reliability in cloud environments. Your expertise in AWS services like EC2, S3, and Lambda positions you as a key player in delivering scalable solutions for customers. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with global teams to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
You are comfortable with overseeing complex projects and have a proven track record of improving system performance and reliability — your analytical skills allow you to identify issues and implement effective solutions quickly. You understand the importance of customer satisfaction and are committed to delivering exceptional service. Your experience with incident management and on-call rotations has prepared you to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
Desirable
Experience with European data sovereignty regulations is a plus, as is familiarity with utility computing concepts. You have a passion for continuous improvement and innovation, always seeking ways to enhance operational processes and service delivery. Your ability to mentor and lead teams will contribute to building a best-in-class development engineering and operations team.
What you'll do
In this role, you will spearhead the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud, collaborating with AWS teams to ensure a successful rollout in 2025. You will oversee the operations and development teams, ensuring that high-availability AWS services are delivered to EU customers. Your responsibilities will include enhancing day-to-day operations, focusing on improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.
You will play a pivotal role in influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology, working closely with technology leaders to drive innovation. Your typical day will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, contributing to operational enhancements, and ensuring that the services meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
You will also participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents occurring outside of regular hours, ensuring that customer needs are met promptly. Your leadership will be crucial in building a culture of excellence within the team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
