Overview

Amazon is seeking a Senior Customer Terminal System Engineer to lead the integration and validation of customer terminal systems for their LEO broadband initiative. You'll work with technologies such as AWS, embedded Linux, and RF systems. This role requires strong collaboration skills and experience in system architecture.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in systems engineering with a focus on customer terminal integration and validation. Your experience includes working with hardware, software, and firmware, and you thrive in collaborative environments with multi-disciplinary teams. You possess deep knowledge in developing system architectures, particularly in RF and performance simulation, which supports critical tradeoff decisions. Your expertise extends to customer terminal validation hardware and software, ensuring that all deliverables meet technical, functional, and regulatory requirements. You are proactive in engaging with both internal and external partners to align on system architectures and implementations. You are comfortable with in-field and on-orbit validation processes, demonstrating your ability to adapt to various project phases and environments.

Desirable

Experience with satellite communication systems or broadband technologies is a plus. Familiarity with regulatory compliance in telecommunications can enhance your candidacy. You are also encouraged to apply if you have a background in related fields that can contribute to the mission of closing the digital divide.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for the integration and validation of customer terminal systems, working closely with sub-system engineers across various disciplines including electrical, RF, antenna, thermal, modem, DSP, ASIC, and firmware. You will develop the architecture for customer terminals, making informed design tradeoffs based on RF and performance simulations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and supporting validation hardware and software, ensuring that all systems meet the necessary technical and performance standards. You will engage with development partners to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components. Additionally, you will conduct in-field and on-orbit validation with satellites, which may require travel up to 10% of the time depending on project phases. Your role is crucial in ensuring that the customer terminal systems are reliable and effective in delivering broadband services to underserved communities.
