Overview

Google is seeking a Silicon Validation Engineer to shape the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration. You'll work on custom silicon solutions, focusing on TPU technology and silicon validation processes. This role requires experience in silicon design and scripting in Python.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 3 years of experience in silicon design or semiconductors, you are well-versed in digital design and silicon validation. Your scripting skills in Python or a similar programming language enable you to contribute effectively to the team. A Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field is preferred, especially with an emphasis on computer architecture. You have experience developing firmware, embedded software, or functional tests for silicon validation, showcasing your technical expertise.

Your background includes hands-on experience in silicon validation, where you've been involved in bringing up, characterizing, and qualifying silicon. You are familiar with high-speed interfaces, ASIC interfaces, memory systems like HBM, and power system features in high-power ASICs. You are excited about the opportunity to drive cutting-edge TPU technology that powers Google's most demanding AI/ML applications, and you thrive in an environment that pushes boundaries and fosters innovation.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration by developing custom silicon solutions that power Google's TPU technology. You will leverage your design and verification expertise to verify complex digital designs, focusing specifically on TPU architecture and its integration within AI/ML-driven systems. Your contributions will help bring custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) from concept through to production, ensuring that they meet the high standards required for performance and reliability.

You will perform long-term system characterization and debug issues, providing feedback to improve features such as power management quality and performance across generations of designs. Your role will involve working with pre-silicon prototyping platforms as well as post-silicon bring-up and production, ensuring that all aspects of the silicon validation process are executed flawlessly. You will design, develop, operate, and maintain software-based validation tests, contributing to the overall success of the team and the projects you work on.

What we offer

At Google, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to innovation and excellence in technology. You will have the opportunity to work on projects that impact millions of users worldwide, contributing to products that are at the forefront of AI/ML advancements. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Join us in shaping the future of technology and making a difference in the world.
