Google is hiring a Silicon Validation Engineer to work on cutting-edge TPU technology for AI/ML applications. You'll be responsible for validating and debugging high-power ASICs, utilizing skills in Python and C++. This position requires 2 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and have at least 2 years of experience in bringing up ASICs and performing functional and performance validation. Your experience includes scripting in Python or a similar programming language, and you have a strong foundation in C++ software design principles. You are passionate about unusual computer architectures and eager to contribute to the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration.

You may also have a Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, with a focus on computer architecture. Your background includes experience with high-power ASICs, working with memories, and reading hardware description languages such as SystemVerilog. You have a knack for building test automation tools and scripts, and you thrive in environments that challenge your technical skills.

What you'll do

In this role, you will shape the future of AI/ML hardware acceleration by working on Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs). You will be responsible for the validation and verification of complex digital designs, focusing specifically on TPU architecture and its integration within AI/ML-driven systems. Your tasks will include implementing test plans, developing software tests and flows for system validation, and utilizing these to test hardware, collect data, and characterize the operation of High Bandwidth Memories (HBMs) in both test chips and production silicon.

You will triage and debug issues found during new product development, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to find solutions. Your contributions will directly impact the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide, as you work to develop custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's TPU technology. You will engage in test design, bring-up, triage, and debugging across emulation, test design, software, and firmware.
