Shepherd is hiring a Business Development professional to build lasting relationships with broker partners in the construction industry. You'll align Shepherd's products and technology with the goals of leading brokerages. This role requires experience in sales and relationship management.

You have a strong background in business development, particularly in the insurance or construction sectors β your experience has equipped you with the skills to build deep, lasting relationships with broker partners. You understand the nuances of aligning products and technology with client needs, and you thrive in environments where collaboration is key.
Your ability to communicate effectively and persuasively is one of your greatest assets β you can articulate complex concepts in a way that resonates with diverse audiences, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed. You are proactive in seeking out new opportunities and are comfortable navigating the challenges that come with building a business in a competitive landscape.
You are results-driven and have a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets β your strategic mindset allows you to identify potential growth areas and develop actionable plans to capitalize on them. You are also adaptable, able to pivot your approach based on market feedback and changing client needs.
Desirable
Experience in technology-driven environments is a plus β you understand how to leverage data and automation to enhance business processes. Familiarity with the Property & Casualty insurance landscape will give you an edge in understanding client needs and industry trends.
What you'll do
In this role, you will focus on building and nurturing relationships with construction-focused brokerages β your goal is to align Shepherdβs innovative products and underwriting expertise with their business objectives. You will engage with brokers to understand their challenges and demonstrate how Shepherd can provide solutions that enhance their operations.
You will collaborate closely with internal teams, including underwriting and technology, to ensure that the solutions you propose are not only viable but also tailored to meet the specific needs of your partners. Your role will involve regular communication with brokers, providing them with updates on product offerings and gathering feedback to inform future developments.
You will also be responsible for identifying new business opportunities and developing strategies to pursue them β this includes conducting market research, analyzing competitor offerings, and staying informed about industry trends. Your insights will be crucial in shaping Shepherdβs business development strategy.
