Who you are

You have a higher technical education in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, and bring over 5 years of experience in metalworking or mechanical engineering. Your expertise in machining and fabrication processes allows you to analyze CAD models and technical drawings effectively, ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency. You possess strong analytical skills and can communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Your experience includes calculating manufacturing costs, assessing manufacturability, and providing design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback. You are detail-oriented and can deliver high-quality quotes in a timely manner, ideally within 1-2 working hours. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with Sales and Engineering teams to clarify details and organize requests for quotes (RFQs).

Desirable

Experience with process automation initiatives and workflow optimization is a plus. Familiarity with industry-standard software tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks will enhance your ability to perform in this role. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement will set you apart.

What you'll do

As an Application Engineer at Xometry, you will analyze drawings and CAD models to provide accurate manufacturability feedback. Your role will involve calculating costs associated with materials, machining hours, and post-processing, ensuring that all quotes are precise and timely. You will document and transfer your calculations to the Sales team, maintaining quote databases and ensuring they are updated regularly.

You will review 3D models and 2D drawings, providing recommendations on manufacturing processes where necessary. Your ability to communicate effectively will be crucial as you clarify details with both Sales and Engineering teams, ensuring that all parties are aligned on project requirements. You will also support process automation initiatives, contributing to workflow optimization efforts within the organization.
