Overview

Apple is hiring a Physical Design Engineer to contribute to high-performance PHY designs from RTL to GDSII delivery. You'll work with CAD, timing, and logic design teams in Cupertino. This role requires expertise in physical design methodologies and static timing analysis.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in physical design engineering, with experience in crafting high-performance PHY designs from RTL to GDSII. Your expertise in CAD tools and methodologies allows you to generate block and chip-level static timing constraints effectively. You are skilled in developing and validating low power clock network guidelines, ensuring optimal performance in your designs.

You have hands-on experience with block-level place and route processes, and you excel at closing designs to meet timing, area, and power constraints. Your ability to generate and implement ECOs to address timing, noise, and EM IR violations demonstrates your problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You are familiar with physical design verification flows and can provide guidelines to fix LVS/DRC violations, contributing to the overall success of the design team.

What you'll do

As a Physical Design Engineer at Apple, you will be at the forefront of PHY design efforts, collaborating closely with architecture, CAD, timing, and logic design teams. Your responsibilities will include generating static timing constraints and building full chip floor-plans, including pin placements, partitions, and power grids. You will develop high-performance low power clock network guidelines and perform block-level place and route to ensure designs meet stringent timing, area, and power requirements.

You will also be responsible for generating and implementing ECOs to rectify any timing, noise, and EM IR violations that arise during the design process. Running physical design verification flows at both chip and block levels will be a key part of your role, as will providing guidance to other designers on fixing LVS/DRC violations. Additionally, you will participate in establishing CAD and physical design methodologies that promote correct-by-construction designs, assisting in flow development for chip integration.

What we offer

At Apple, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to crafting products that enrich people's lives. We offer a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will have a significant impact on the future of our products. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and be part of a company that values diversity and inclusion. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we believe in the potential of every individual to contribute to our mission.
